Eid al-Fitr and Eid El-Adha Holidays 2023

21April 2023,Today is a religious occasion for all Muslims in all parts of the world, it is the blessed Eid al-Fitr, we celebrate it once a year on the 1th of the lunar month of Shawwal .  
This is after the Ramadan lunar month .
Shawwal is the tenth month of the twelve lunar months .
The lunar months depend on the calculation by the moon, during all its stages and life cycle, where the month is 29 days or 30 days .
The naked eye is a way to determine the beginning and end of the months .                                      There are some islamic countries that witnessed the birth of the crescent month of Shawwal after 29 days of Ramadan, and there are Muslim countries that could not watch it, therefore, the month of Ramadan will be 30 days, and then the month of Shawwal will come .

Weather and climatic conditions or some astronomical calculations can obscure the eye from seeing a birth Shawwal crescent .

April 22 ,2023, is the Eid al-Fitr holiday for some islamic countries .

Eid al-Adha  holiday is the second festival of the lunar year for Muslims .
The two feasts do not differ from each other in the atmosphere of joy .

How do Muslims celebrate Eid al-Adha holiday ?

On the occasion of Eid, we perform the Eid prayer in the mosques on the morning of Eid, on the day of Eid we visit each other, the quarrelsome forgive each other, we extend our congratulations and blessings to each other, we eat what is delicious with friends, relatives and family .

The atmosphere of Eid is a joy in every Muslim hom .

Eid holiday prayer

Muslims perform Eid prayers in mosques, prayer is the first thing Muslims do during the holidays, where they perform it at sunrise in the form of groups .

Sweets and Desserts

Various sweets and desserts are prepared in homes and prepared in Ramadan, to be served to guests on Eid-ul-Fitr holiday .

New clothes on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr

The Eid al-Fitr holiday is marked by wearing new and clean clothes .
Muslims take a bath in the morning before going to the Eid al-Fitr prayers, and they will put on a lot of perfume .
Eid al-Fitr prayer is before sunrise .

On Eid al-Fitr, it is desirable to wear white clothes, Men like to wear a specific dress that distinguishes Muslims from others, which is a long shirt at the ankles, underneath which are pants, in addition to a cover that is placed on the head .

This is the clothes of the Prophet Muhammad. Peace be upon him .

 The children are wearing new clothes and are clean and showered, Girls put henna on the eve of Eid, They style their hair in the most beautiful hairstyles .                                                     

Money on Eid al-Fitr  

Perhaps the most important characteristic of the Eid al-Fitr holiday is young children, young children go to the homes of relatives and neighbors, and they receive money as a token gift that brings joy to the hearts of children .                                                                                                                               Giving money to children on Eid al-Fitr is a good custom, it creates joy and competition among them for who will get the largest amount of money .                                                                                     Then the children buy the toys they want or go to the city of games and children's clubs .

Cleaning Houses

All housewives clean the houses before Eid al-Fitr, and during the holy month of Ramadan, where the houses are cleaned and polished, this is in anticipation of receiving Eid Al-Fitr and to receive guests in the best way .

Shaving heads and improving beards and mustaches

Men and boys shave their heads before Eid al-Fitr Holiday,  Men also groom their beards and mustaches to make them look beautiful and elegant on the days of Eid holidays .

How many Eid holidays the Muslims have ?

Muslims celebrate two Eid holidays every year .

Where they celebrate Eid Al-Fitr, which lasts for two days, and then  after about two months and ten days, that is, on the 10th of the lunar month of Dhu al-Hijjah, they celebrate the holiday of Eid al-Adha wich lasts for 3 days . 

What is Eid Al-Adha Holiday ?

It is a religious occasion for all Muslims in all parts of the world, it is the blessed Eid al-Adha, we celebrate it once a year on the 10th of the lunar month of Dhu al-Hijjah . 

The sacrifice shall be a ram, cow, goat, or camel.
This is after the pilgrims performed a stand on Mount Arafat during the Hajj in Makkah Al-Mukarramah, on the 9th of the lunar month of Dhul-Hijjah .

And the blessed Eid al-Adha is following the example of the Prophet of God Abraham, peace be upon him, when God commanded him to slaughter his son the Prophet, peace be upon him and his father .
Ibrahim passed the test, and when he wanted to slaughter his son, peace be upon them, God sent to him a great sacrifice from Paradise, as a reward for his patience . 

The story of the two prophets, peace be upon them, is found in the Holy Qur’an .

We Muslims (mostly concentrated in the Middle East and North Africa) follow the religious custom of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, when he sacrificed, following the Prophet Abraham, peace be upon him.

What is the difference between Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha ?

Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha differ in timing .                                                                                     Because Eid al-Fitr is after the month of Ramadan, and Eid al-Adha is after standing on Mount Arafat in Makkah Al-Mukarramah .

Eid al-Fitr is a celebration and joy marking the end of fasting by Muslims, wishing from God Almighty for forgiveness of their sins .                                                                                                                    Eid al-Adha for sacrifices, to worship of God . 

How do Muslims celebrate Eid al-Adha ? 

On the occasion of Eid, we perform Eid prayers in mosques on the morning of Eid, then we go to slaughter the sacrifice, Likewise, as on Eid al-Fitr, on the day of Eid al-Adha, we visit each other, people who they were quarrel forgive each other, we extend congratulations and blessings to each other.

We eat delicious sacrificial meat, cook a variety of dishes, and eat with friends, relatives, and family .

We give some of the udhiyah to those who find financial difficulty with the slices of the sacrifice .

What distinguishes the Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha holidays for the year 2023 ? 

Some Islamic countries have been witnessing tensions and security instability for some years, in the year 2023, some Islamic countries are still witnessing these tensions, However, this does not prevent Muslims from celebrating  Eid holidays, rejoicing .                                                                         Thousands of worshipers attended mosques in the major Islamic capitals to perform Eid prayers while wearing the most beautiful clothes, Muslims pray in their prayers for the stability of their country, May Peace prevail .
