Religious tourism in the North Africa and the Middle East

 

 The countries of North Africa and the Middle East are rich in religious and historical tourist attractions. it can be attractions for tourists from different countries of the world .
 These areas relate to the three religions. 

  • Jewish, 
  • Christian 
  •  Islamic .

 it is the starting point of these religions. the birth of the prophets. Here it should be noted that . christianity and islam are the two most widespread religions in the world .

As examples of some places of religious tourism 

we find

1 - Mecca and Medina in Saudi Arabia : 

at the top of the list. especially the Hajj season ( pilgrimage ) : these two places are linked to nearly two billion muslims around the world. The lunar month of Dhul-Hijjah is considered the pilgrimage season every year. more than two million pilgrims . 

2 - Bethlehem and Jerusalem in Palestine :

Bethlehem and the Church of the Holy Sepulcher in Palestine are among the tourist attractions specific to the Christian sect (especially at Christmas)  . the city of Jerusalem is also considered one of the historical heritage of many prophets . This is what makes the conflict between Jews and Muslims over the historical heritage of the city existing .   

3  - Historic cities in Turkey:

 the civil engineering of the Ottoman Empire. it is considered one among the tourist attractions of the Muslim sect . Because it contains mosques, domes, minarets, niches, and palaces of the sultans....we also find in Turkey churches, cathedrals and ancient monasteries for Christians, with a beautiful urban and artistic character.

4 - Some areas in Iraq and Iran :

 where we find some holy cities.: Shiites (Muslim sect) visit it .we find, for example, the city of Karbala and Najaf Al-Ashraf in Iraq. The city of Qom and Mashhad in Iran...

5 -  Cyprus: contains a historical religious heritage.

 it could be an important factor for the success of tourism in this country. in Davos we find the ancient temples of the goddess of love and beauty (Aphrodite). there are also rural churches and monasteries in the Troodos Mountains (classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site). in addition, there are churches dating back to different centuries (the Church of Saints Barnabas and Hilarion in Peristerona, the Church of Panagia Angeloktisti...). thus, Cyprus can be classified as the most important country - In North Africa and Middle East -  that holds a global religious heritage for christians .
 

6 - Synagogues in North Africa and the Middle East in general :

 where most of these countries contain areas with ancient historical synagogues. We find as some examples. The Tunisian island of Djerba (the El Ghriba Synagogue: the oldest temple in Africa...) Egyptian cities (the Temple of Ezra: one of the oldest temples in the world. The Ismaili Temple...). Moroccan cities (the Temple of Fez, the Temple of Beth - El in Casablanca, and the synagogue of Moshe Nahon in Tangiers. .. ) Cities of Syria (Jobar Synagogue: in Damascus. the temples of the Levant city. . ....) Which constitutes a tourist attraction par excellence for the Jewish sect in all countries of the world. or even for those interested in their history .

7- Ancient historical temples in Egypt and Iraq :

 where the Pharaonic civilization is considered one of the oldest civilizations in the world. its temples are still a continuous tourist attraction. for those interested in this subject, in addition to the civilization of mesopotamia in Iraq .
